A makeshift street in Allahabad

Description:

Months prior to the festival, a huge tent city is built along the holy river banks of the Ganges and the Yamuna which meet to create a sacred intersection. Makeshift streets, residential tents, food stalls, hospitals, temples, public toilets and police stations fill the area as far as the eye can see. Merely placed for the upcoming Mela, these structures will be torn down immediately after, leaving the area deserted as though nothing took place.
