Description:
On every street corner, sadhus, or Hindu ascetics, were seated around campfires with glowing embers. Next to them was a trishula, a trident embodying the god, Shiva and they held chilams, clay pipes filled with charas, hashish, which they smoked regularly to gain enlightenment. These religious gatherings catch the sadhus at their finest hour. Their beards were wild and overgrown, their faces were painted, and their clothes were colourful, bursting with the colour orange. Some used to be ordinary people, living ordinary lives; a few were middle-class husbands and fathers who’d left their families and jobs to seek enlightenment.
