fishermen float bamboo rafts along the river using long wooden paddles

Description:

The Li river runs through the Guangxi region, through the tall, karst mountains, along 80 kilometers, from Guilin to Yangshuo. Should you hike along the banks of the river in Yangshuo after sunset, you will occasionally be able to see the fishermen coming to fish with their cormorants, sitting on bamboo rafts, with oil lamps providing light. In this quiet night setting, the fishermen's nameless figures blend in harmoniously with the shadows of the karst mountains towering in the background.

Cormorant fishing at night is a spectacular sight to behold. After sunset the fishermen emerge on their bamboo rafts, appearing from a distance as spots of light on the water's surface. As they approach, their reflections show on the water's surface thanks to the flickering light of their oil lamps.
