women are weaving and repairing the navy blue fishing nets

Description:

In the fishing village of Bac Lieu, women are engaged in weaving and repairing fishing nets while the men go fishing. This is a typical fishing town and most of the people are engaged in all areas of work related to fishing. The Mekong Delta is a region in southwestern Vietnam where the mighty Mekong River, which crosses six different countries, spills into the sea. It is no wonder that the whole area has evolved around the fishing industry and hundreds of fishing villages make a living from the variety of options available. The nets come in a variety of colors blue, green, gray, etc. and are adapted to different areas of the river where the water's color varies depending on the depth of the water. The fishermen know where to adjust the variety of nets so that the mesh color blends with the water's color and becomes less noticeable to the eye.
