Silhouette reflection on the salt pools at dawn

Description:

The salt fields of Hon Khoi near Nha Trang on Vietnam's eastern coast produce about 737,000 tons of salt each year. The working technique is relatively simple. Routing the water from the East China Sea with pipelines to small water ponds in the fields, leaving them there to evaporate for several days. Then the workers arrive and collect the salt that has been exposed into straw baskets, which can hold up to 10 kg, and stack the salt into a huge salt hill. This strenuous task is performed by middle-aged women and takes place between 04:00 and 09:00 AM due to the heavy heat. To protect themselves from the heat and salt, the workers wear the traditional Vietnamese engraved hat, gloves, boots and face masks.
