Description:

In the ethnically diverse nation of Myanmar, the government officially recognizes 135 ethnic tribes. The most unique among these is the Chin tribe which is located near the Bangladesh border and famous for its tribe women whose faces are masked in intricate tattoos. There are two main areas where one can encounter the tattooed women of the Chin tribe - around the mountain towns of Mindat and Kampetlet, and in the Mrauk U villages along the banks of the Lay Myo river in Rakhine.
