Description:
Every Burmese boy between the ages of 10-20 years-old and sometimes as young as 7 undergo the Novitiate Ceremony which introduces them to monkhood. They are obliged to become a novice Buddhist at least once in their life, as well as spend time in a monastery and become familiar with the fundamentals of Buddhism. This ceremony eventually leads at least 1% of participants to embrace the holy spiritual Buddhist commitments for life.
