Housed on the Hoang Lien Son mountain range, the livelihood of locals works mainly on processing of yellow and green rice terraces that surround them on every side. Constant process of sowing, planting, harvesting and repeating. Life revolves around the rice growing cycle. The Sapa area is home to five ethnic groups that differ in dress, tradition, and dialect. A visit to the rice fields is a magical and authentic experience because of the rice terraces stretching to the edge of the horizon, glowing as they meet with the sun's rays which are peeking through the clouds, and because of the only way of arrival there, riding a motorcycle and embracing a local young driver.
